Hope to Hear From You Soon

EXCERPT:

A job is many things. It's a source of income. It's an identity. A social network.

"I am a farmer."

A teacher. A lawyer. A brain doctor.

It can also be a responsibility. A source of purpose. A status symbol.

"I save lives on the regular."

And because of design choices we've made in the way we've structured our society, a job can also be a legal requirement. Most countries require foreign nationals to have a job in order to acquire or maintain residency status. A visa, a work permit, a green card. A job can be the reason why you can legally live in one place and not another.
